Agave lophantha ‘Quadricolor’

Description

Agave lophantha ‘Quadricolor’ is an eye-catching variety which draws its name from the coloration of its leaves, which feature dark green, yellow, and light green stripes, accented by red teeth that will flush even deeper in tone when exposed to high levels of sunlight. A relatively small Agave, reaching only 18 inches tall and wide, Quadricolor can serve well as a foil for darker hued succulents in an arrangement or rock garden, or can easily hold its own as a standalone specimen. Known to readily send out pups, or offsets, this variety will begin to fill any area with its unique rosettes of striped leaves.

Bright light is the key to Quadricolors potential, and will ensure both bright coloration as well as healthy growth. Hailing from Mexico, this succulent has adapted to harsh and arid conditions, and as such prefers a very porous soil (such as a cactus mix amended with additional pumice, course sand, or perlite) and prefers infrequent but thorough watering. During the winter months, take care to shield this plants leaves from frosty temperatures, as it is not cold hardy.
