Alocasia longiloba ‘Silver’

Description

Almost entirely silver, as though the green has been washed away. Alocasia longiloba ‘Silver’ produces long, narrow, arrow-shaped leaves in a pale, luminous silver-green with darker green veining and margins that frame the metallic surface. The leaves are held upright on slender stems, creating an elegant, architectural form. It is more compact and refined than many Alocasias, with a delicate quality that belies its toughness. The silver colouring catches the light beautifully from any angle.

OriginsAlocasia longiloba is native to Southeast Asia, growing in the understorey of humid tropical forest. ‘Silver’ is a cultivar selected for its predominantly silver-toned leaf surface.

Soil and SubstrateOur Alocasia Premium Potting Mix is peat-free and formulated for Alocasias, with a chunky, well-draining blend that prevents waterlogging. Water when the top 2 cm of substrate is dry. Bright, indirect light shows the silver colouring at its best. Avoid cold draughts.
