Beach Plum, otherwise known as Prunus maritima, is a member of the Rosaceae or Rose family. This woody perennial is a gorgeous triple threat producing showy snow-white blooms; verdant foliage that morphs into shades of merlot and marmalade; and diminutive fruit that can be used to make many delectable items including jams, jellies, and wine. This salt-tolerant shrub grows to a maximum height and width of 6 to 7 feet. Beach Plum yields pristine blooms highlighted by prominent golden anthers in the spring months of April and May, which are followed by its harvest of little plums.
