Description
(aka: Nolina microcarpa KJS333) This selection of the southwestern desert native bear grass, Nolina microcarpa comes from a Kenton Seth collection from the Corduroy Creek area in Navajo County, Arizona, southeast of Flagstaff. Nolina microcarpa is one of the larger, clumping bear grass species with amazing hardiness…we saw it thriving at the mile-high Denver Botanic Gardens. The long, narrow, evergreen, grass-like leaves of Nolina microcarpa reach nearly 36″ on this stately 6′ wide specimen. The flower stalks emerge from the center of the clump to 5′ in height and are covered with tiny white flowers in spring.
