Quarteira Velha Fig

Description

Quarteira Velha figs are filled with strawberry red pulp. The pulp has a good concentration of flavor when ripe. This variety is said to have some unique flavors of melon and berry. The texture is syrupy with some seed crunch. A variety that comes to us from Portugal, Quarteira Velha is said to be a 100+ year old type. The fig is named for the parish of Quarteira in the Algarve region of Portugal.

When do we ship cuttings?

Non-Rooted Cuttings(November/December):

We begin to ship cuttings once the trees are dormant and in a shippable state. Exact timing is weather dependent, but we usually start in November. Shipping continues throughout the winter and early spring. We stop shipping when the trees begin to break dormancy, normally around mid-March.

**All non-rooted cuttings ship between November and March regardless of the date selected during checkout. Orders placed during our pre-sale period(October/November) will ship out first in November/December. If you are rooting your cuttings in the spring, our cuttings can be kept in the refrigerator until you are ready to root them. They will be perfectly fine. That is what we do and they’ve turned into our most impressive trees.

Rooted Cuttings(Spring):

We begin shipping rooted cuttings once they are mature enough to ship. The shipping period typically begins late April and continues into June. Regardless of the date you select during checkout, we will ship when ready during that span. Please do not ask for ETA’s or specific arrival dates. You will receive an email when your order ships with UPS Ground tracking details.
