Tephrocactus geometricus – Bola de Indio (2-3 ball, rooted plants, not cuttings)

Native to Argentina, these tiny balled specimen cacti are quite special and relatively rare. They are sometimes referred to as snowman cacti due to the round balls often forming one on top of another, eventually creating a cluster of virtually spineless succulent balls. Sporadically, spring to summer, large, 2in. wide pink multi-petaled flowers form on top. These South American cacti plants are unusual that they prefer cooler winter temperatures, and well-drained, gritty soil. Full sun exposure is preferred, but in low desert gardens or patios, some shade should be provided. Great collector and container plants. Water modestly during most of the year, more during growth periods and flowering.
