Description

Native to Oaxaca, Mexico, where it clings to cliffs and rocky outcrops, Tillandsia mitlaensis is easily recognizable for its stiff, upright leaves coated in a thick layer of silver trichomes. The rosettes are compact but striking, and when mature they send up a vivid pink inflorescence topped with tubular purple flowers. It prefers strong light and low humidity, thriving where other Tillandsia might struggle, and benefits from regular misting in hot weather with a complete dry-out in between. Slow to mature but long lived and resilient.
